A weekly column in which Jake gives short blurbs about the comics he’s picked up that week. Reviewed in the order read, which varies but generally by increasing anticipation. Disclaimer: he knows very little about art, at least not enough to considerably honor such tremendous undertakings, so…yeh, there’s that.
Kill the Minotaur #3
Writers: Chris Pasetto & Christian Cantamessa
Artist: Lucas Ketner/Colorist: Jean-Francois Beaulieu
Letterer: Clem Robins/Image
The Minotaur has been revealed and Perseus & Co. don’t stand a chance. That is, not without some help. KtM ramps up the horror and the gore while providing a fair bit of exposition and background flavor. There’s an urgency to the panels, thanks in no small part to Ketner, whose horror stylings are fervently on display. KtM increases in quality with every issue.
BOOK OF THE WEEK
Writer: Al Ewing
Artists: Travel Foreman; Filipe Andrade; Marco Lorenzana & Scott Hanna
Color Artists: Dan Brown w/ Matt Yackey/Letterer: VC’s Joe Sabino
It’s the end of the Ultimates and shit. gets. weird. Like, weirder than normal for an Ewing book. Ultimates has been a crazy series but a good one.
So what did you pick up this week? Agree or disagree with anything said here? Let us know in the comments.
