A weekly column in which Jake gives short blurbs about the comics he’s picked up that week. Reviewed in the order read, which varies but generally by increasing anticipation. Disclaimer: he knows very little about art, at least not enough to considerably honor such tremendous undertakings, so…yeh, there’s that.
Aliens: Dead Orbit #2
By: James Stokoe/Dark Horse Comics
Things get explosive in Dead Orbit, but the story feels like it’s dragging. There’s just too many beats that you’ve seen already if you’re at all familiar with the franchise. None of the characters really stand out aside from their designs, and there’s not really enough nuances or twists in the setting or story to add something new to the tale. Honestly, the only thing saving this series is the art, which is why you’re buying it in the first place but sometimes you need something more. Maybe things will change next issue, but as of right now this series is a bit of a letdown from last issue.
